A man’s confidence in his ability to adapt or excel after losing his job indicates freedom from ignorance and mental subjugation. Is John Marsden right when he says, “We kill all the caterpillars, then complain there are no butterflies”?
If not, think of this: some firms are ‘in the red’ while others have been liquidated due to ineffective talent management by leadership. There is doubt that “The most serious failure of leadership is the failure to foresee.” — Robert K. Greenleaf.
A manager’s ignorance in a firm may manifest in an officious and inflexible management style that does not allow for suggestions.
‘Carefully adhere to instructions’ is a dictum in a manual book. However, it is surprising that humans have become a manual for others to follow. The prevalence of ignorance in the workplace can lead to employees appearing robotic and constrained by an entrenched clause, limiting their opportunities for creativity and innovation.
This malady hinders the employees’ abilities, resulting in underutilisation. The employees are experiencing frustration and cognitive impairment. Finally, the employees redirect their aggression toward the customers, undermining their expectations.
The upshot is that the employees experience frustration and cognitive impairment. Finally, the employees redirect their aggression toward the customers, undermining their expectations.
This is because their own aspiration has been shattered by that clumsy and ineffectual manager (Boss) who has no ‘lofty ideal’ and has never been ‘ahead of the curve’. Instead, he is submerged and equally takes delight in upholding Icarus syndrome.
Due to a lack of ingenuity, their raw ambitions have become their worst enemy because they have clouded themselves with a spurious sense of future and legacy. Engrossed in elation for occupying an unanticipated cum unmerited position, such a manager relentlessly resists the acumen necessary to transcend beyond his misguided enthusiasm. Therefore, he incessantly subjects the employees to his beck and call.
These fixed-mindset managers often display contempt towards subordinates to avoid healthy competition, and employees may remain silent due to fear of appraisal.
In most cases, these ‘little napoleons’ are ‘famous for 15 mins’ because they have no ‘feather in their cap’. But I can assure you that if this kind of manager possesses any iota of inspiration with a quantum of initiative, they should understand that a prosperous Human Capital enterprise necessitates freeing the conditioned mind. As the saying goes, “When clay makes its way to the potter’s house, it will never be the same again, and the end result is metamorphosis.”
This pattern of subjective mind control can result in excessive pressure, increased tension, and self-sabotage.
At this juncture, most talents and ambitions are kept in the background, without a fair crack of the whip’ and ‘by the same token’ effectively blocking the exhibition and utilising one’s hidden potential. The presence of beauty is not negated by an individual’s inability to perceive it due to visual impairment; rather, your inability to perceive the inherent qualities of others is due to your own blindness.
Most unfortunately, we tend to eulogise mediocrity instead of championing meritocracy, which is why jobs end when the information programmed in the computer is exhausted. The reasons for untapped potentials remain a subject of discussion. Stay tuned
