Knowledge with regards to philosophy is a state of mind, awareness of fact that involves perceptions using the five senses, and familiarity with the environment, which is distinct from opinion or guesswork. “The essence of knowledge is, having it, to apply it; not having it to confess your ignorance”. — Confucius. It’s good to acquire knowledge, but knowledge management is essential, so it’s hard to boast of being knowledgeable with a single definite activity. When one acquires and utilises knowledge, it’s imperative to impact such knowledge in others. One of the benefits of knowledge is to distance one from unmitigated ignorance; hence, “Knowledge makes a man unfit to be a slave.” — Frederick Douglass
When knowledge is passed to others, it is possible to be exploited, which leads to the advancement of human capital. We must understand the importance of knowledge and knowledge management which is about converting tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge. If we accept that “knowledge is power” ( Francis Bacon), we should take a bold step to create something powerful by disseminating knowledge. To that effect, a structured and organised manner should be considered to avoid redundancies and information overload, “A Rolling Stone that Gathers no Moss’.
Sometimes people are afraid that knowledge could be misused or abused, which could turn one into (a rebellious angel) a clever devil. Notwithstanding, we can’t bank on such fear because “Knowledge rests not upon truth alone, but upon error also.” ― Carl Gustav Jung. Knowledge is about discovery, a comprehensive approach to issues and a calculated attempt towards the solution; therefore, “True knowledge is that which abhors intellectual dishonesty”.
