“Awareness is a key ingredient in success. If you have it, teach it; if you lack it, seek it”. ―Michael B. Kitson.
Undeniably, the cultivation of awareness is a potent tool for discovering novel phenomena. Mindfulness practice presents a viable solution to many difficulties that we encounter in our daily lives, as it affords us the capacity to remain fully present and conscious of our experiences, both in the moment and throughout our life’s trajectory.
The full scope of our cognitive limitations and the degree of perceptual distortion that envelops us may elude us until a moment of epiphany illuminates our consciousness and dispels the veil of ignorance. Therefore, “The key to growth is the introduction of higher dimensions of consciousness into our awareness”. ― Lao Tzu
At times, individuals may find themselves experiencing a sense of insufficiency despite being surrounded by abundance. Furthermore, obstacles may arise due to needing more consciousness despite being at the forefront of advancement.
Observing one’s surroundings does not necessarily equate to perceiving its contents without conscious mindfulness. The lack of awareness of one’s consciousness drives individuals towards a mechanised way of life, which focuses on technicalities. Prioritisation and concentration on vital tasks are imperative for the attainment of success.
Interestingly, “Every human has four endowments – self-awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination. These give us the ultimate human freedom…The power to choose, to respond, to change”. ―Stephen Covey Frequently, individuals direct their energy towards a wrong path, a ‘larger than life’ mentality, due to a lack of awareness to understand our existence’s reality.
Individuals tend to develop a subjective perception that deviates from objective reality, disregarding that our self-concept plays a crucial role in shaping our environment and, ultimately, the arbiter of our fate.
Essentially, “To know yourself, you must sacrifice the illusion that you already do”. ―Vironika Tugaleva. Owing to a lack of awareness, individuals often substitute their existing problems with alternative issues, seeking spiritual remedies for physical problems due to a misguided perspective.
Furthermore, it is a prevalent phenomenon for individuals to become firmly rooted in a dogmatic perspective towards spirituality, disregarding that one could be attained spiritual enlightenment through flexibility, impulsiveness, disengagement, and benevolence toward oneself and others. Practicing mindfulness is crucial in identifying the infiltration of learned cognitive patterns. A lack of mindfulness may hinder one’s ability to recognise these patterns unless faced with the stark realities of existence.
We should critically examine and evaluate our personal beliefs and belief systems, as increasing our awareness enables us to regain agency in selecting our preferred course of action rather than being constrained by the influence of our past experiences. Stay Tuned!
