Are you still considering other manifestations of ignorance? Examine our approach to our professional pursuits or work.
A prevalent yet overlooked form of ignorance manifests in daily work or activities. “In our generation, we have moved away only one step from slavery. The difference is that every work deserves payment nowadays. But the employees are still under the mercy of the employer.” ― Mwanandeke Kindembo.
Is it surprising that many skilled individuals in various professional settings, including those who ‘hit the book’, cannot effectively showcase their abilities? Presumably, they may choose to remain inactive or be compelled to do so.
Can this type of situation result in feelings of distress and depressive symptoms? Without discovering the purpose of one’s work, one may remain ignorant of the true reason for being in that workplace.
REFLECTION; “Remember that we started our lives as strong as we could, grow and change as we learn. Unfortunately, many people, when they begin their career after graduation from college, that growth which started at an exhilarating pace slows down even to a creeping and dreary stagnation”.
Subjecting employees to strict observance of anachronistic rules and directives in a workplace is viewed as a ‘cul de sac’ and makes most jobs lacklustre.
Limiting an employee’s ability to take initiative at work may result in a boring and unsatisfactory work experience. What is your strategy for achieving fuel efficiency using only the manual transmission?
Hiring intelligent individuals and micromanaging their tasks is illogical. Meanwhile, individuals of high intelligence are employed to provide the firm with guidance and direction.
Employees’ creativity diminishes when they cannot exercise their initiative in decision-making, particularly when all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been utilised.
They remain static within their office, performing the same tasks without actively seeking to innovate or generate engaging content. Individuals restricted to such circumstances cannot progress or utilise their talents.
Paul J. Meyer was factual when he said, “Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort”. Similarly, due to unidentifiable workplace prospects, many believe they are born without talents.
Regrettably, incompetence and underperformance are prevalent, leading to ineffectiveness and unproductivity in the workplace.
Nepotism has become institutionalised to the point where an individual’s origin is valued more than their abilities. According to Perry Belcher, “Nothing will kill a great employee faster than watching you tolerate a bad one.”
If you’re not “A victim of the rules you live by” (Jenny Holzer—; artist, thinker, blurter of brilliance), then your inability to discover, activate and maximise your potential is described in your lackadaisical attitude in finding your ‘work in your job’. Subject for discussion, stay with us.
